As fuel scarcity persists, disrupting daily life in certain states, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) is calling on President Bola Tinubu to prioritize the prompt completion of the ongoing rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt refinery. They believe this is crucial to addressing the persistent fuel distribution challenges.
The IPMAN Rivers State Chairman, Tekena Ikpaki, made an appeal during an exclusive conversation with our correspondent in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
However, he expressed appreciation for the president’s efforts in reopening defunct refineries, stressing that this action is now more urgent than ever.
Ikpaki emphasized the critical need for IPMAN members to have access to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation portals for purchasing products. This access, he believes, is essential to preventing potential fuel scarcity in Port Harcourt and its surroundings. He noted that the current reliance on reservoirs and private depots, as observed in some parts of the country, is not a sustainable solution.
